UDLA Principal Shea Hatch recognised with an AILA Fellowship

We’re delighted to share that Shea Hatch’s exceptional contribution to landscape architecture has been recognised with an Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA) Fellowship.

Shea is a registered landscape architect whose 20-year career reflects a deep commitment to equitable, inclusive and evidence-based public realm design. Her work brings together environmental systems, public health and cultural resilience, and she is widely regarded for her ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and deliver complex community outcomes. Her portfolio includes landmark WA projects such as the Scarborough Foreshore Redevelopment, Ocean Reef Marina and the Subi East Redevelopment Masterplan.

“Shea leads with honesty, passion and a ‘no bullsh*t’ approach that people gravitate toward. She advocates fiercely for more inclusive, child-friendly and health-supportive places, and she brings others along with her.” — Scott Lang

As a Principal at UDLA, Shea leads major public projects, mentors emerging professionals and contributes to key internal initiatives, including UDLA’s RAP Working Group. She shares her knowledge generously through conferences, panels and public forums, strengthening industry discourse and practice.

A former AILA WA Chapter President and long-standing contributor to design review panels and policy development, Shea continues to shape both practice and professional culture. Her advocacy for a more inclusive, health-supportive public realm is felt across the sector, and her influence extends well beyond individual projects.

Shea is an inspiring leader, a thoughtful collaborator and a generous mentor — and she is a thoroughly deserving nominee for AILA Fellowship.
