Caine Holdsworth’s Arboriculture Qualification

Another colleague congratulations from us this week – this time to Associate Landscape Architect Caine Holdsworth who recently completed (with first-class honours!) a Graduate Certificate in Arboriculture from the University of Melbourne.

From Caine – “I thought about doing this qualification for a few years, but the catalyst for jumping in was participating in a series of multidisciplinary workshops in early 2020, in which a central and recurring discussion topic was protecting trees and urban tree canopy.

In those discussions, there were 16 architects, 8 planners, 5 developers, and 2 landscape architects – but no arborist. As a Landscape Architect, I’ve experienced what a difference ‘having a seat at the table’ on major projects can make. With my Arboriculture qualification, my main aim will be to advocate for Arboriculture to have a seat, so that better decisions about trees – and especially urban canopy – can be made.
