We thoroughly enjoyed the Designing Cities Symposium, as part of the recent Fremantle Design Week.

UDLA's Studio Principal Shea Hatch facilitated the Symposium, during which we heard from a range of insightful perspectives about the process of making cities.

Barbara Bynder and Farley Garlett shared their expertise on how urban environments can be better when cultural knowledge and Elders-first approaches are embedded in projects, referencing Karrda's current work on Subi-East with DevelopmentWA. .

Monash University XYX Lab's Nicole Kalms discussed designing gender-sensitive spaces that are safer and more equitable for all members of the community.

And City of Fremantle’s Russell Kingdom and Kerry Hill Architects' Patrick Kosky talked about the Walyalup Civic Centre.

Cheers to Sirona Urban for their support of this event.
