Chris Johnstone
Project Director (RLA)
Chris is a landscape architect recognised for his collaborative, ecologically driven approach to the design of public spaces. His practice is guided by five interconnected modes that shape the way he works with landscapes and communities.
Central to Chris’s design philosophy is the belief that our relationships with physical and cultural landscapes define how we connect to place. He understands landscapes as dynamic, always in a state of becoming, and shaped by movement and time. His design work embraces this complexity, weaving together human and ecological systems across a multitude of scales.
Underpinning it all is Chris’s understanding that human and bio-physical ecologies are intertwined. To express this, he privileges and celebrates the ever-evolving space of plants interwoven with human micro-climates.
