UDLA  are part of a multidisciplinary team engaged by LandCorp on behalf of the Shire of East Pilbara to design the Newman Town Centre. Through an intense process, including a series of community consultation presentations and design workshops, a draft plan for the Newman townsite growth, a masterplan to guide the redevelopment of the Town Centre and a comprehensive report have been produced. Stages 1 and 2 of the Newman Town Centre masterplan have been implemented and will provide the base for future development.

Newman Town Square is part of Stage 3 of the project. UDLA are working together with Cameron Chisolm Nicol, the Newman community, the Traditional Owners and Custodians of Newman and artist Lynette Wallworth to design this public hub.

The plans for Newman Town Centre will help Newman to revitalise and grow into a recognised economic and social hub and will reflect the status of Newman as an important regional centre.

    • A revitalisation plan that identifies Newman as a regional centre;
    • A contented community due to a successful engagement process; and
    • A master plan for the future of Newman as a growing hub.
