On March 19, UDLA Director Dan Firns will be a panellist at the lunch and learn conversation about design collaboration and the Subi East project, as part of Perth Design Week 2024.

Celebrating Noongar kadadjin (knowledge) on Noongar boodjar (Country), the Six Seasons Bidi Artwork project is the biggest WA State Government investment in Aboriginal public art to date. It is part of Subi East, one of the most significant urban redevelopment projects undertaken in WA.

The Bidi was delivered under the guidance of the Subi East Elder Group and is a culturally led project with Noongar lore and knowledge given the respect it deserves.

The Subi East Six Seasons Bidi was created via a highly collaborative process. It was commissioned by DevelopmentWA, with Aboriginal Development Management by Karrda, Landscape Architecture by UDLA+OCULUS, Art Coordination by Apparatus, and artworks by six Noongar artists. The six artworks along the Bidi, each developed to represent one of the six Noongar seasons, are by artists Rubeun Yorkshire (Birak), David Jones (Bunuru), Lea Taylor (Djeran), Kam Bin Salleh (Makaru), Dellas Bennell (Djilba) and Jarni McGuire (Kambarang).
